Explain in detail how HCI can impact on society, economy or culture.
Be able to use Evolus Pencil to create a simple design for a web page.

Friday, yas!

At the start of the day, we had our delayed weekly quiz. The quiz was about The Future of Virtual Reality. It was an interesting video that attempted to predict the future. One interesting part I heard about was humans inserting nano-bots into our bodies (the size of red blood cells) that monitors our health. Though this is roughly 20-35 years away, it's got its good and bad. Anyway, I lost the quiz but that's fine - I will create a tough quiz for next week.

Then we moved onto our work, as I said in the last blog, I finished off the last part by explaining how HCI can impact on culture in U23_A1T1 (I've done society and economy). As I typed about the effects on the psychological and sociological impacts, I learnt that technology can either make us more productive and intelligent, or it can dumb as down and de-skill the traditional art of craftsmanship. Though this task was quite lengthy, I managed to get it done.

Next, I moved onto U23_A1T2. This report worth a distinction so I decided to sit down and crack on. Throughout the document, I made the subheadings for what I will explain. I started to evaluate and assess how human computer interaction is advanced into virtual reality, then linking it to the big company 'Oculus'. Through this, I learnt about its dates and what it can do as I also watched video in regards to it. Furthermore, the criterion also required us to explain and predict either an existing or new system of virtual reality in HCI. Mine is a mixture of existence and new because it is fictional. I decided to use references from sources I know (yes, Sword Art Online), but then when talking about the developments on society, economy, and culture, I went into more detail and started to think outside of the box. This was a strength of mine was I was able to be creative and think more than what's on the surface.

Throughout the day, I did stop and take some time to give feedback to other people's websites. I understood they were a bit behind, so I helped hoping that my feedback will allow them to evaluate and identify improvements for their second task in U20_A4T2. We also spent a moment where Zoë taught us how to use Evolus Pencil. Essentially, it is a software that allows you to create a visual prototype of the final design. This can be used to design the screen layouts for websites, apps, as well as designing flowcharts and more. It has been fun and if I were to design any prototypes in the future, this is the software that will save me from wasting time!

Returning to work, I decided to stop after working half way through the document. I managed to talk in detail about the development my virtual reality idea had on society, but time was running low. In addition, the assignment is due in today but Zoë will not be marking this until Monday. With this in mind, myself and few others asked for an extension. This is because I will have my art club after, then my art tutor. Today will be and has been exhausting, therefore I believe I will be getting this done by Monday.

Reflecting throughout the day, I have been able to get a lot of work done. Though I was a little distracted, I am still on task ultimately. My inspiration for today has been the manga/anime 'Sword Art Online', this is because it used the concept of virtual reality and has allowed me to come up with the idea I have. My improvements are to work and manage my time a little better. Despite knowing that a huge workload would mean that I will be tired and therefore need more rest, I should also push myself even more in order to make it for various deadlines.

Today has been a great day, come back for more on Monday!
