Welcome back to a fresh Monday!
Recapping through the weekend, I have spent time working on the remaining task: U20_A4T2, roughly reaching a quarter way through. As I came into college today, the starter was to complete the final survey for U20 as well as the initial survey for U23 - our new and second unit of the academic year. Yes, although it may be a little confusing as U20 is not technically over, we have to begin the next one which means I'll need to be working a little harder than usual in order to get everything in for the deadline.
Through the final survey of U20, I was able to recap everything. Relating to my dream career (Games Art Designer), knowing how websites work in both CSS layouts and JS interactive scripts can help me understand the restrictions and limitations of webpages. If per se I were to design art for a gaming website, it would be more efficient. The good strength I have overall for each unit is that I try to find ways it can benefit me, even though it is an indirect technique.
Moving onto the new unit, it was very confusing as I flick through the survey and the Scheme of Assessment (SOA). However, it seems like a very fun and informative unit which I am somewhat interested in! Before we begun the first assignment, Zoë split our group into fours and told us to write down definitions and examples of HCI - Human Computer Interaction from the top of my mind. I believe I've covered a bit of this in GCSE, therefore it was a little fuzzy but I was able to say that RSI - Repetitive Strain Injury is apart of this. Whilst working on this, my weakness was definitely my lack of knowledge on this unit. my improvement will be to try and research areas I don't understand. As I worked in a group, I had remarks such as "Let the Asian do the work", and "Oh, we have Danny so we'll be fine". I felt used, therefore I didn't contribute to the teamwork at all and decided to do some independent thinking. It was an unpleasant feeling, so I hope I can either work alone or work with someone else next time.
Then Zoë moved onto Assignment 1, woop! In the U23_A1T1, there are a total of four sub categories: To understand HCI's development, society, economy, and culture. Throughout the day, Zoë covered each one by one via Power Points and then sent it round the class. Today, I was really focused and cracked on to try and get as far as I can. I have learnt a lot today, I have learnt HCI's history from the first computer using the approach of WIMP and GUI methods to why how people implement HCI into complex tasks today, such as virtual reality tests for astronauts and air pilots.
Reflecting for today, I have progressed a lot. I am extremely determined to work hard all throughout the week and get work ahead. This is because I still have to complete: U23_A1T1, U20_A4T2, U20_A2 resubmission, art. and begin my personal statement. Yes, this is the week!
See you Thursday.
