Objectives from Zoë.
Know that the principles of HCI can make a better functioning HCI.
Design at least two screens for an app for a stated purpose.
Design screen(s) using a number of principles of HCI.
Hello!
Working over the weekend over the past two days, I have completed a part of U23_A2T1 where I explained the different fundamental principles of HCI as mentioned in the previous blog. This was extremely time consuming, but I even managed to do art along with it at the cost of no resting. In addition, I also made the quiz for tomorrow and sent it to Zoë.
Coming into today's class, I firstly spent time sorting out files and updating parts of the Scheme of Assessment wherever possible. When the lesson began, Zoë said that the quiz will be postponed until tomorrow because we require additional time to get ahead of our work due to having maths for the other half of the day.
Zoë began explaining furthermore of U23_A2T1 where we need to design screen designs for a Sundown Festival as part of our assignment. The requirements to meet the criteria was to design an order form as well as three other designs that can either be on tablet or smartphone. We did this by using the software 'Evolus Pencil' as it provides a variety of simple GUI formatting to create simple visualisations and diagrams. As I wanted to get as much done as possible, I ended up sacrificing three quarters of my lunch time dedicated to completing the work, and resulted in completion. The only thing left here was to literally make the order form on a webpage using HTML.
My strengths of today has been able to complete all the work within the time frame, though this can be stressful, I have up developed independent skills where one of them is to managing my work load. Furthermore, by spending more time on my work I have been able to proof read my spelling and grammar, double check and make sure everything is near pitch perfect to my own abilities. On the other hand, my weakness has been requiring to need more time and I could be working quicker if I can grasp more complex tasks quicker. My inspiration has been online researching as I used Sundown Festival's website to help with my information gathering. As I am up to date and slightly ahead, there are no improvements.
Later on, a lady from The Wellbeing Service came in for 30-45 minutes and spoke to every class in the college. This has been about stress, depression, anxiety and everything else related to it. She has been discussing and interacting with us about different ways to cope, to reduce, to avoid as well as telling us where we can get help. Diving into my personal life, I would say I get stressed on a daily basis because of my heavy workload, but I have decided to give myself a heavy workload to push myself further, therefore I don't really have a right to be stressed as I chose to in order to help get the grades I need and strive into university and designing. I can cope with my stress very well, too.
Objectives from Emily.
Explore matrix transformations.
Recognise different transformation matrices.
Understand the definition of a map and a graph.
Construct a matrix form a graph.
Know why graphs are useful.
After lunch, Emily took over to teach us the last part of maths before the half term and the exam for assignment one of U26. She has been teaching us the Merit criteria and fortunately, this has been easier than the Pass criteria - no logic! Throughout the lesson, she has taught us how to find and create a matrix by using four types of transformations via matrix style, as well as to find a matrix based on graphs and diagrams. This has been a really good lesson because I understood everything and will be revising over the half term to make sure I hopefully pass the exam. It has been a little heated up as everyone got different answers, but in the end I always ask Emily if the answer is correct or not for confirmation.
One last day tomorrow before half term! See you.
