Welcome back, reader.
The starter for today was to look at how we can make a good choice. I discussed this with Jordan and we both concluded that we must analyse the current situation and align the facts together to create a decision. Adam then handed out different kinds of graphs out and we had to annotate around the positives, negatives, what was persuasive and whether or not it is understandable. The different graphs were pictogram, scatter graph, bar charts and pie charts etc. Each graphs have its own advantages and this activity was to help being awareness that different graphs have different uses.
Next, Adam walked us through the basic features and functions of Microsoft Excel. I recall using this in GCSE Year 10/11 but have forgotten some parts. This refreshed my mind slightly and I used this opportunity to take screenshots for my work later on. This links with U03_A3T2 where I had to explain the different features and functions that are used to make data more valid, useful and accurate. For instance, the sort and filter tool, the hide feature and COUNTIF function etc. A strength was being able to understand the functions and apply it.
Next, we then mind mapped what should be inside of a report. This report is essentially an expansion of the task above but in more detail. Very difficult and sad to say, but the same is for Distinction but instead we had to justify our words of why and how a business makes a decision from data/information. I found U03_A3T2 and T3 to be difficult and challenging, but nonetheless Adam gave me enough encouragement and support to finish.
Reflecting on today, I have managed to complete the entire unit of U03 - Information Systems. I am pleased with myself and this means I have a week dedicated to doing art and such. In addition to this, Catherine did speak to me and a few other peers about the cooking course taking place this coming Wednesday! I also looked at the learner forums issues and planned out what I will be doing, which is to create an invitation design sheet. As a class we also discussed the end of year activity which is paint balling.
