Information Systems!

Aim: Consider different aspects of a data flow chart and create your own.

Objectives:
*Discuss what a data flow chart is and decide on a definition.
*Analyse different aspects of data flow charts.
*Create a data flow chart.

Aim: Discuss how business data could be improved and write a report.

Objectives:
*Look at the criteria for D1.
*Discuss what the report needs to include .
*Write a report about how businesses can generally improve their business information linking it to clear examples.

Hello!

Over the independent study days, I proposed an email in regards to Learner Forums to Adam - which will be discussed today about the end of academic year events. I also created a creative and fun quiz.

Upon coming into college, we had to make a list of information systems in regards to qualitative and quantitative examples. This was quite tricky, but eventually I got the hang of it. Information Systems is in other words, how information are stored e.g. databases via quantitative statistics.

We then had the quiz I made. It was quite funny as I inserted a laughing video and random questions. However, in all fairness it had some difficult and challenging questions. I thought it was a great way to start the day.

Moving onwards, we had a class activity where we looked at the figures of data flow charts. The class was split into groups where we had to look at the good points, bad points, information and design of it. I was grouped with Brandon and Adam and covered the bad points. It was interesting and has helped my work later on, this was a strength. With this, Adam covered with us U03_A1T2 where we had to create a data flow chart in regards to the functional areas we learnt previously and internal/external sources of company application.

In addition to this, I also managed to start U03_A1T3 which is the distinction. This task focuses on how information can be improved. Since the last half of the day will be spent with Emily in Maths, I have planned to complete this tomorrow.

Today has been a very productive day, and a strength was being able to focus on all the workload whilst being able to have fun.

Objectives for Emily: *Begin assingment 3.
*Recognise different number systems.
*Use powers/ place values.
*Confidently convert between binary and decimal.
*Be able to convert decimal to octal and hexadecimal.

For Emily's lesson, we covered different number systems such as Decimal, Hexadecimal, Binary and Octal. At the beginning we had a class activity where we had to brainstorm a mind map. For me, I was with Jordan and Tom S doing Decimal. At the start we didn't know much but by the end of the day I understand the conversion between it. It was challenging, yet fun. A strength was to be able to understand. My goal is to practice it for the upcoming test in order to achieve the criteria for the U26_A3T1.
