3D Modelling Galore!

Aim: Investigate key parts of 3D Modelling theory and application.

Objectives for the day:
*Work together well.
*Investigate strengths and weaknesses for 3D Modelling software.
*Decide what grade you would give examples and why.
*Consider different methods of construction.
*Explain how constraints affect 3D Modelling.
*Create a graph to explore the relationship between; polygon count : file size : rending time.
*Create evidence for A1T2.
*Proof read your work.
*Prepare questions for Saint visiting tomorrow.

Tough Thursday!

Throughout the independent study days on Tuesday and Wednesday, I completed a lot of work - including the U41_A1T2 on Fixed Graphics Pipeline, U26_A2T2 mathematics in regards to matrices, arrays, and recursive algorithm, getting the SoA's done and finishing all resubmissions. My strength was being able to get on top of all work including other curriculum. My weakness is the result of being tired.

Coming into college today whilst waiting for other students to turn up, Adam showed us a video about what Cinema4D as a 3D modelling software - I learnt that it is used to present advertisement as it can show realistic scenarios with creativity and imagination.

We also did the student quiz made by Ben C. It was a video about how technology is impacting the future where a man created a 3D model using his hands by interacting with the monitor. It was interesting but a few questions such as accuracy and precision came in mind. At the end, I tied with Matthew and Jordan but Matthew won the dual monitor by answering the final tie-breaker question.

Throughout the hours ahead, Adam taught us the rest of U41_A1T2 content, which was: Software and files, construction methods and constraints of different factors. For software and files, we had a group activity where we had to discuss points of positive and negative sides of each software and file - this was challenging because me and Jordan B had a file extension but it was good to learn more and has inspired me to research further.

For the construction methods, we all went to Google Docs and made a copy - then made notes on its advantages, disadvantages and comments. This was simple to understand and I learnt of the different construction techniques. It was super interesting and this was a strength. A weakness would be the inability to expand on certain areas because it would be difficult to over-state above the obvious, but Adam has had a little criteria chat with us and this helped me become confident on obtaining the distinction criteria.

For the last part, we all made graphs and charts of different constraints, such as file size, rendering time and polygon count. I learnt about how each one affects one another and I started to think about external factors. For personal reflection, I have managed to achieve a lot as well as getting minor work done. I feel I have learnt a lot and the notes I have made will be beneficial for me to work furthermore.

Tomorrow, Saint is visiting us from NUA - he is the lead of VFX course. My questions would be mainly about relating VFX to games.

Maths:

Recall the definition of hypothesis
Have chosen a hypothesis to research
To have outlined the structure for a proposal
Outline questions you plan to answer in this assignment
Have considered different ways to collect data.

During today's lesson, I quickly submitted the A2 work. We moved onto A4 for now and we are starting to learn about gathering data. We learnt the definition of hypothesis, examples of it, and then we created our own ones in groups. I worked solo this time (finally) and I have ended up creating questions for a hypothesis. It was a challenge because it is something unusual for me to do. Though challenging, it is possible if I put time to it. There's no coursework, for now... :D
